Life Fitness to be the exclusive distributor of the Peak PilateSystem

SAN FRANCISCO – Feb. 27, 2003 – Life Fitness, the leading manufacturer of a full line of cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, today at the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) convention, announced an agreement with Peak Pilates, Boulder, Colo., to be the exclusive distributor of the company’s new Peak PilateSystem.

The agreement grants Life Fitness exclusive rights to distribute the product to commercial health clubs and vertical markets worldwide. Additional terms of the deal are not being disclosed.

“Teaming up with such a credible, established Pilates manufacturer as Peak gives Life Fitness a foothold in this fast-growing exercise segment,” said David Gibbons, Life Fitness vice president of business development and strategic planning. “Fitness facilities have been buying Pilates equipment at increasing rates over the last several years, and these units will give Life Fitness a product offering in the Pilates category that is particularly well-suited to a health club environment.”

Peak PilateSystem Deluxe and Reformer

The product is available in two models, the Deluxe and the Reformer. The Deluxe, with an exclusive, patent-pending design, is the only portable that includes three essential pieces of Pilates equipment (Reformer, Cadillac and Mat) in one compact, foldable footprint that allows for a complete Pilates workout on one piece of equipment. The Reformer is the only portable that is foldable, comes standard at personal training height and is upgradeable to a full multi-use combination system. Both models are ideally suited for uses ranging from personal training to group exercise class settings where space is limited and convenient storage is necessary.

These unique, all-in-one systems, are supported by the Peak PilateSystem Instructor Training Program, a condensed training program based on the classical approach to the Pilates Method.

Price, Warranty and Availability

The Peak PilateSystem Deluxe has a list price of $2,995, and the Peak PilateSystem Reformer will list for $2,595. Both units will have a five-year warranty, will be distributed through Life Fitness and will be available by the end of Q2 2003.
