Life Fitness unveils three new commercial treadmills

Units boast contemporary design, enhanced programming and new colors

NEW YORK – April 24, 2003 – Life Fitness, the leading manufacturer of a full line of cardiovascular and strength-training equipment, today at the Club Industry East convention unveiled three new commercial treadmills: the 97Ti, 95Ti and 93T. These models replace the 9700HR, 9500HR and 9100 treadmills, respectively.

The three units boast a new and exciting contemporary industrial design and color scheme along with enhanced software programming while maintaining the durability, quality and reliability that has established Life Fitness as the leading manufacturer of high-quality treadmills.

Dynamic New Look and Enhanced Software Programming

The 97Ti, 95Ti and 93T combine a mix of metallic silver and gray tones with rounded uprights, handrails and frame edges to give the treadmills a contemporary look. The three treadmills sport the same console, whose arched profile further enhances the new design. The console comes standard with two integrated accessory trays and a CD/MP3 player holder and is strategically placed in the center to minimize users’ arm swings interfering with headphone wires. Additionally, the console overlay has updated graphics including an intuitive heart rate zone training chart.

For even more exercise variety, the treadmills’ software programming has been enhanced. Dedicated console buttons let users easily access the new features, such as the Speed Interval program, which allows exercisers to set two speeds and toggle between them (similar to the “previous channel” button on a television remote) for effective interval training. In addition, a dedicated button called Zone Training + provides easy access to three more interactive heart rate programs – Extreme Heart Rate, Heart Rate Hill and Heart Rate Interval.

Finally, each treadmill gives facility owners and managers the ability to create custom messages of up to 52 characters and display them on the console message center.

Standard Features

All three models come with Polar telemetry heart rate monitoring while the 97Ti and 95Ti also include digital heart rate monitoring technology with Lifepulse heart rate sensors conveniently located on the Ergo grip handlebars.

To accommodate all fitness levels, the treadmills have various speed and elevation ranges. The 97Ti has speed ranges from 0.5 mph to 15 mph and has an elevation range of minus 3 percent to 15 percent. The 95Ti can support speeds from 0.5 mph to 12 mph and elevation ranges from 0 percent to 15 percent. Finally, the 93T accommodates speeds of 0.5 mph to 10 mph and inclines of 0 percent to 15 percent.

A variety of workout programs help keep exercisers interested and motivated. The 97Ti and 95Ti have 12 workouts, including five interactive heart rate monitoring programs, 5K and 10K Sport Training workouts, Quick Start and six different fitness evaluation tests. The 93T has five workouts, Quick Start and a fitness evaluation test.

The treadmills are powered by 4.0 HP AC motors, which come with an industry-exclusive lifetime warranty. Life Fitness is the only manufacturer to offer a lifetime warranty on its motors.

Standard on all Life Fitness treadmills is the patented FlexDeck shock absorption system. This system significantly reduces impact to lower-body muscles, joints and bones by nearly 30 percent and results in a more comfortable workout. The units include two CSAFE ports to support networking and entertainment systems, such as BroadcastVision, Cardio Theater, Enercise or FitLinxx, as well.

Numerous features make servicing the treadmills simple. A side access panel on each model makes routine maintenance quick and easy. To prolong the life of the belt and the deck and to significantly reduce downtime, the units have the patented Everwax automatic wax lubrication system, which automatically waxes the treadmill at regular intervals and delivers optimal wax distribution.

Finally, the Advanced Auto Alert diagnostic system records all service and maintenance issues in addition to providing notification for preventative maintenance, and new integrated handles make moving the treadmill easier than ever.

Warranty and Price

The 97Ti, 95Ti and 93T include limited lifetime warranties on the AC motor, frame and Lifespring shock absorbers, a one-year warranty on mechanical parts, two years on electrical parts and one year for labor. Available in May in the United States, the 97Ti is priced at $7,999, the 95Ti at $6,999 and the 93T at $5,999 (all are manufacturer’s suggested retail prices).
